We purchase 98% of our produce from local suppliers, enjoy long-standing partnerships with OzHarvest, Foodbank and Variety SA, and offer employment opportunities and apprenticeships through various organisations.

Feeding Adelaide

Through long-standing partnerships with local organisations, Foodbank and OzHarvest, we have been able to donate many unused or excess food items from our kitchens to help feed the disadvantaged in our community.

Our contribution to food rescue in Adelaide is quite significant with more than 54,325 individual meals donated to Foodbank SA, and 53,412 meals donated to OzHarvest, helping them reach a one million meal milestone!

Our efforts in food rescue not only help to feed the hungry, they also divert rubbish from landfill, helping to save greenhouse gas emissions and water usage!

Since 2001, the ACC has been a platinum sponsor of Variety SA – the Children’s Charity. We love supporting such a great cause and relish the opportunity to be involved in the Annual Gala Dinner that gathers almost 2000 people and hundreds of dollars in fundraising.

We are proud to support local businesses and highlight our state’s delicious regional produce. The Adelaide Convention Centre purchase 98% of food and beverage from local suppliers injecting over $4.1 million into the state’s economy!

Waste management

Events generate a large amount of waste, be it left over food from a gala dinner or plastic and packaging from an exhibition or travelling road show.

We have tackled this issue from many corners and have virtually eliminated waste. We have re-distributed over 120,000 unused meals to local charities through our partnership with OzHarvest and Foodbank.

We operate the largest worm farm in the southern hemisphere, which serves perfectly for composting the surrounding gardens!

Consistently performing at ‘above best practice’ in several key areas of natural resource preservation, the Adelaide Convention Centre was awarded EarthCheck gold status certification in 2013, having progressed from bronze and then silver in 2010.

The internationally respected EarthCheck Program, run by EC3 Global, is used by more than 1,100 tourism and travel organisations across 65 countries, including some of the world’s leading convention centres, hotels and travel groups, national park agencies, community organisations, and government regulators.
