Last month, South Australia was declared the 2015 State winner at the Australian Event Awards. When it comes to events in our State, South Australia has something for everyone, and all throughout the year.

January kicks off with events such as the Santos Tour Down Under, and we get into the action by hosting the Legend’s Night Dinner at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Sports fans in South Australia also flock to the World Tennis Challenge, the equestrian Australian International 3 Day Event, and cricket matches at the Adelaide Oval.

Food and wine lovers are well catered for with events including the McLaren Vale BankSA Sea and Vines Festival, Adelaide Hills wine festival Crush, the Barossa Gourmet Weekend and the Adelaide Convention Centre’s own multi-award winning Cellar Door Festival, the largest display of food, wine and beer producers in South Australia.

It’s called “Mad March” in South Australia for a reason: the Fringe Festival, Adelaide Festival of Arts, WOMADelaide and Clipsal 500 V8 car race all jostling for place in the city towards the end of February and coming into March. An exhilarating and exciting time – some say there’s no better time to visit.

Arts and music lovers aren’t ignored the rest of the year, however, with the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Feast Festival, Adelaide Guitar Festival, OzAsia Festival, Adelaide Film Festival and the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival filling up the calendar. Phew!

For young ones (and those who are young at heart) there’s Brick-a-laide, Adelaide’s newest and most exciting LEGO event (we’re hosting this one, too!), and the Come Out Festival.

All of these events, along with many more that fill our calendars – you can see a comprehensive list here – have contributed to the Australian Event Awards recognition.

Some much-loved South Australian events also won other awards on the night, with the EVENTelec Best Cultural, Arts or Music Event going to WOMADelaide and the Coates Hire Best Community Event awarded to Adelaide Writers’ Week. A further seven Best Event finalists took place in South Australia.

It’s a great accolade for South Australia. We congratulate all of the winners of the Australian Event Awards, but especially those from SA, who continue to demonstrate excellence in delivering world-class events. These events contribute to making our delegates experience in South Australia one to talk about for years to come… no matter what time of the year they visit!
