Despite only running for two years, Adelaide Convention Centre’s annual Brick-a-laide has already become South Australia’s largest Lego event, with 35 000 streaming through the doors to attend since its inception.
The 2016 Brick-a-laide, held on Easter Friday and Saturday, was a resounding success with new exhibits and attractions proving major drawcards for thousands of families and other visitors.
Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said Brick-a-laide had worked on a number of levels. It brought people into the city during a period when many establishments were closed and families were looking for things to do, it allowed people to experience and view the facilities that the convention centre had to offer and it provided the not unsubstantial LEGO enthusiast community a place to gather, share ideas, exhibit or view some of their amazing creations, purchase mementos or to add to their collection and have something to drink and eat – all in a fun environment.
“We are already working on ways to make next year’s Easter weekend event even bigger and more exciting”.
