Just four years after its launch the Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide has been inducted into the South Australian Tourism Awards (SATA) Hall of Fame.
The induction, which was announced at the annual SATA gala dinner on Friday November 14, followed the Festival winning the SATA Festival and Events award for three consecutive years.
The Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide now has 9 major national and state awards to its name including the Exhibition and Event Association of Australasia (EEAA) Award for Excellence and Public Event of the Year by Meetings and Events Australia (SA).
Conceived and managed by the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC), the Festival is the largest consumer wine event in the country in terms of the number of producers exhibiting.
It showcases two of South Australia’s key tourism drawcards – premium wine and food.
Next year’s festival will be held on 20-22 February and is expected to attract a record number of participants with more than 170 South Australian wineries, breweries and food producers in attendance, representing 15 South Australian regions.
They include the newly added Yorke Peninsula and Southern Flinders regions, who will be showcasing their products for the first time.
ACC Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the Festival has become iconic because of the overwhelming support from participants and visitors alike.
“People have been quick to embrace the Festival with participation and visitation growing every year,” said Mr Gilbert.
“The Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide showcases the state’s premium food wine and food producers to local, national and international consumers and demonstrates the ACC’s commitment to promoting South Australia.”
