The expanded Adelaide Convention Centre sits at the heart of Adelaide’s burgeoning Riverbank – a hub for business, entertainment, health and the arts.
The Centre acts as a gateway to the Riverbank’s key precincts which are creating a must see destination and centrepiece for the vibrant city of Adelaide.
To the East, the Riverbank Promenade connects the Centre to the Entertainment precinct with direct access across the River Torrens to the redeveloped Adelaide Oval via the new Riverbank Footbridge. The Promenade also links directly into the Adelaide Festival Plaza Precinct which is being redeveloped with public artwork, water features, restaurants cafes and bars.
Adjacent to the Plaza is the Adelaide Casino which will soon be expanded and redeveloped. To the West, is the South Australian Health and Biomedical Precinct which will be the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and integrates health care, education and research into one central hub. It incorporates the new $3.2 billion Royal Adelaide Hospital, South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, two university research centres and a new Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The Riverbank’s Precincts are connected with a network of walking and cycling paths which then directly links into the city’s West End with its new laneway bars, cafes and restaurants.
It is also home to many community events, such as concerts, art installations and pop-up venues, particularly during the summer period in festival season.
