Following 12 years of outstanding service, Alec Gilbert steps down from his position as Chief Executive at the Adelaide Convention Centre (ACC) this month. During his tenure, Alec was instrumental in transforming the Centre and led the motivation for its $397 million expansion.

In celebration of Alec’s outstanding contributions to the ACC, Adelaide and state of South Australia, the ‘Panorama Suite’—one of the Centre’s signature venues—has been renamed ‘The Gilbert Suite.’

“One of Alec’s greatest accomplishments during his 12 year tenure was the $397 million redevelopment of the Adelaide Convention Centre,” says Bill Spurr AO, Adelaide Venue Management Board Chair. “We specifically chose the former Panorama Suite—now The Gilbert Suite—for a special tribute to Alec as not only does it offer stunning views over the Riverbank, but it also provides those who utilise it with opportunity to catch a glimpse of two of Alec’s great legacies, the West and East Buildings.”

An intimate, elegant event space, The Gilbert Suite has floor to ceiling glass walls, providing spectacular views of Adelaide’s Riverbank Precinct. The Suite was briefly closed during the ACC’s redevelopment but is now back online following an upgrade of its own, including the installation of 75 inch LCD screens along with technology to wirelessly connect computers to the room’s AV system.
