gold service. green attitude

  • Benchmarking, research and continuous improvement are fundamental to achieving our sustainability goals – and living up to our ‘Gold Service, Green Attitude’ philosophy.

The Centre’s concerted ‘green crusade’ has been in place for years. As a result, organic waste going to landfill has been virtually eliminated. To find out about all of our environmental initiatives and green achievements, please download our 'Gold Service. Green Attitude' flyer below. Or download our Environmental Policy.

    Exhibition Waste

We aim to reuse and recycle at least 90% of exhibition waste. A great example of what can be achieved in exhibition recycling is the Cellar Door Wine Festival. To find out more from this event, please download the case study below.

    EarthCheck gold certification

The Adelaide Convention Centre was awarded EarthCheck gold status in 2013, having progressed from bronze and then silver in 2010.  The Centre underwent a rigorous audit process each year for five years to gain the coveted gold status.

Consistently performing at ‘above best practice’ in several key areas of natural resource reduction, we are now focused on remaining Gold certified for ten years in order to achieve platinum status!

The internationally respected EarthCheck Program, run by EC3 Global, is used by more than 1100 tourism and travel organisations in 65 countries. Among them are some of the world’s leading convention centres, hotel and travel groups, national park agencies, community organizations, and government regulators.

Program participants seek to manage their operations in an environmentally sustainable way to reduce their carbon footprints, gain cost savings, and improve triple bottom line performance.

    charity contributions and sponsorship

  • Each time we cater for lower-than-contracted numbers, we donate leftover meals to FoodbankSA and OzHarvest, who then redistribute perfectly good meals to needy people through their network of participating charities. Our contributions are made daily or weekly, depending on what goes on at the Centre and statistics are updated every month in our 'Gold Service. Green Attitude' flyer.

Trees For Life - The Adelaide Convention Centre shares a  corporate partnership with South Australia’s premier environmental organisation Trees For Life (TFL) . TFL is helping us to offset the carbon dioxide emissions of events held at the centre through the retirement of voluntary carbon units plus the planting of native trees and shrubs in South Australia. Adelaide Convention Centre staff are involved in a voluntary native tree propagation program on site and take part in voluntary tree planting days each year.

    Restaurant & Catering SA Awards

The ACC handle banquets for these large numbers wonderfully well. It was a very discerning crowd - and they are not backward in coming forward - but they were unilaterally pleased with the food, the service and the event as a whole. The ACC's staff training is exemplary. The entire team, both on the night and those involved in the planning, have an incredible sense of pride in their own organisation - and that delivers an exceptional experience.
