Adelaide Convention Centre Shows off its Versatility:
Monday, 20 July 2009

The Adelaide Boat Show is always a popular event at the Adelaide Convention Centre and this year was no different attracting in excess of 20,000 people checking out the latest in "tinnies", sophisticated cruisers and all things boating.

The four-day public exhibition is not your average show, with more than 100 exhibitors and some extremely large boats displayed at the 2009 Adelaide Boat Show, including the 35 foot Sea Ray 350 Sundancer with a price tag of $650,000.

Boating Industry Association of South Australia General Manager Glen Jones said that the Adelaide Convention Centre had no difficulty in accommodating the range or size of boats that were on display at the Adelaide Boat Show.

"This is now the eighth consecutive year that we have held the Adelaide Boat Show at the Adelaide Convention Centre and the Centre's versatility, along with the staff professionalism continues to impress us and our clients from all corners of Australia and overseas," said Mr Jones.

"When people come to the Adelaide Boat Show they expect to see boats and accessories, tackle and sporting equipment, take up opportunities to book charters and hire boats and to confirm their holiday plans, not just to collect brochures.

"We are fortunate that the Adelaide Convention Centre is such a great venue that the whole of the marine industry can display their products and services so effectively to prospective buyers.

"Situated right in the heart of the city, the Adelaide Convention Centre is the perfect location to attract people from all over Australia to attend the Adelaide Boat Show," said Mr Jones.

Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert said the Adelaide Convention Centre was known for its flexibility hosting extremely diverse events over the years including spectacular masquerade balls, the 2006 Australian Tourism Exchange, as well as acting as the Games Headquarters for the 2007 World Police & Fire Games.

"The award-winning Adelaide Convention Centre is internationally recognised as a versatile venue for hosting conferences, meetings, events and exhibitions," said Mr Gilbert.

"It is extremely important to us that we endeavour to cater for all our clients' needs and requirements, no matter how big or small these might be, to deliver the best outcomes possible."
