The Adelaide Convention Centre's international marketing efforts have gained fresh impetus with the appointment of a new representative for Europe - UK-based meetings industry marketer and researcher, Sheila Williams.
Ms Williams has extensive experience in international sales and marketing in the conference and exhibitions sector, with a particular focus on Europe. She has also promoted destinations, venues and exhibitions for clients in Asia.
The Convention Centre's new Chief Executive, Alec Gilbert, said: "Sheila is well connected in the association meetings market in Europe and we believe that, with her research capabilities and profile, we will see more business coming our way from the UK and Europe."
"We're ramping up our international marketing efforts, looking for more of the 'high yield' clients who tend to spend more and explore more, creating that ripple effect of economic benefit in the region."
Media note: Alec Gilbert, previously CEO of the International Conference Centre Durban, took the helm of the Adelaide Convention Centre in July. He replaced retiring CEO, Pieter van der Hoeven.
