In May 2000, five congress/convention centres, one from each major continent, formed a cooperative marketing and educational group called the Global Congress Alliance. Aligning the Adelaide Convention Centre with similar regional city convention centres in other countries has resulted in the exchange of marketing leads, cooperative ventures and bids, staff education and exchange programs. The centres also have some discretionary authority to act on behalf of each other.
Each member centre, with a long reputation as the hallmark in the meetings market, aims to provide professional meeting management and quality service that add value to every single event, large or small. Meeting planners and delegates will appreciate the efforts in bringing all details to perfection together with state-ofthe- art facilities, excellent expertise, world-class technical equipment and advanced telecommunications infrastructure, plus a host of amenities. Another quality mark: All members of the Alliance are members of the International Congress and Convention Association ICCA, the International Meetings Association.

The Global Congress Alliance is coordinated from Berlin by the European Representative Office of the Adelaide Convention Centre. The Secretariat attends major Meetings Exhibitions in Europe, representing members of the Alliance at a booth under the Alliance name, considerably reducing the cost of exhibiting for all members.
The central feature of the Alliance is that on each continent, members have a representative experienced in the business of conventions and are able to more efficiently communicate with local organisations planning a conference in another part of the world. When an organisation speaks with one of the member Centres, it is effectively addressing all of them.
