Work is in progress on the Adelaide Convention Centre “Skyway”, a state-of-the-art elevated glass walkway. The Skyway, part of the Centre’s Stage 2 redevelopment, is an architecturally-impressive innovation that will not only provide a convenient link between the Centre’s three buildings, but will also feature panoramic views of the River Torrens and Riverbank precinct.
Connecting the West Building and the East Building (currently under construction), via the main foyer in the Central Building, the Skyway will improve accessibility and event flow across the integrated buildings, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable experience for delegates at the Centre.
The Skyway is just one of the many innovations designed to maximise the functionality of Adelaide Convention Centre facilities. In the East Building, these features include a vast range of operable walls, two 300pax rotating seating drums and 3,000pax tiered seating that, when lifted, reveal a flat floor capable of exhibition or banquet mode events. The high degree of flexibility built into the expanded Centre’s design and operations will provide conference and event organisers with greater options.
The Skyway is expected to be completed by the end of June 2017, in time for the new East Building launch in August 2017.
