Durban was recently ranked as the number one International Convention Destination in Africa by ICCA and ICC Durban was ranked " Africa 's Leading Conference Centre" by World Travel Awards in 2001, 2002 and 2003. The Centre has also won numerous other awards. It has played host to world class events such as The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, the 12th Summit of the Non-Alignment Movement and the 13th International Aids Congress. It is a state of the art venue and has earned a reputation for service excellence. The extension of ICC Durban, due for completion in 2006, will provide an additional 8 750m² of flat floor, multi purpose space and a raked plenary hall to seat 6 000.
